Wilderness Medicine Program
At DRMC we have an engaging gamified wilderness medicine curriculum. Residents earn points by participating in our regular wilderness medicine hikes, camping, and social events. Every spring, we host our annual SonoWAR event in Joshua Tree National Park, combining POCUS and wilderness medicinefor a half day adventure race. Even more, using a custom mobile app, residents can record their own hikes and outdoor activities as well as take monthly quizzes, earning points towards eligibility to rotate in rural Alaska for a month during their PGY-3 year.
